It is Sunday, 2 June 2006.

  On the very heels of my posting about the hard work of the USCG Auxiliary
here, we have a good example of their dedication to their job this morning.
  Moments ago, at 9:05am, two members of the CG Aux were in boat-boat comms
on 157.05.  It is very obvious that there will be another launch  scrub today;
the weather here is terrible, and NASA has only a five-minute window during
which it can launch STS-121 and achieve and orbit in which the Orbiter can
catch up with the ISS. Yet one of the CG Aux members was saying to another:
  "Yeah, the Coast Guard says they know it will be a scrub today, but we are
obligated to activate and enforce the launch security zone anyway. So they
want us to get up there right away, just don't endanger yourself; if we are a
little late because of this weather, that is OK, but we have to get there."
  What better example of commitment to duty.
  Vessels in the launch security area are reporting visibility less than a
mile, and poor weather.
  Also, as I type this, I am hearing the Patrick AFB Tower give CG 6542
permission to start engines and prepare for takeoff.
