Well surely when the reporter becomes the story, I guess that they (as well
the other major networks) will continue
to present information -- which overall IMHO is a very good thing!!! If
you've every known anyone involved in aerovac operations, and there's many
nurses, technicians, MSC operations officers, etc... they can attest to the
fact how heart breaking it is to see the young people in their prime with
such serious, "life altering" injuries. There sure has been a lot of
advances in aeromedical evacuation procedures & equipment (micro intensive
care units -- per serious injuried individual) over the years. Very quick
battlefield initial treatment & transportation has saved many military
members who 10 years ago would have died BUT yet still will be faced with
some extremely difficult physical/mental challenges ahead.

Again I hope that the media continues to portray what type of war we are in
in Iraq (guerilla warfare) and what's really behind the casualty figures
including the "wounded" statistics. Hmm from my graduation from the Tri
Service Combat Casualty Care Course at Camp Bullis Tx many years ago, I can
remember the (than) course motto was 'There are no winners in war, only
survivors"! Bet that motto on the course TShirts isn't "politically"
correct any more!!!

>From a radio communication standpoint I'd assume that the aerovac did it's
normal 3 hour callout via either GHFS phone patch & probably another 1 to
1/2 hour out call on VHF/UHF to the command post. Perhaps this mission was
also fitted with satcom gear..
