this sounds like a good idea,
i live in pierre,SD (in the middle)
i have a dj-296 with 220 mhz yagi
it is pointed just west of south (megnetic)
i get 
250.350 S-3 All the time
250.550 S-4 All the time (this seems stonger)
250.650 S-4 when it is on
