[MilCom] Milcom/Milair Maxium Channels for Effectiveness?

Wondering what opinions there are regarding how many milair/milcom 
frequencies can you effectively scanner/monitor in one scanner.

I know that some scanners offer 500, 1000, and now 4000+ channels 
(coventional frequencies) capabilities BUT how many milcom related channels 
can you effectively scan?

I would guess that not more than 400 to 500 frequencies, with the mix 80% 
being rarely used & 20% being used a lot.  I would also assume that on some 
of the rare frequencies it might be better to program these in the scanner 
at maybe 2 or even 3 different positions?

I don't think 2000-4000 frequencies being scanned would work!!!

What have others found in their daily usage?
