Thanks to all who responded to my question.

Looks like there is a mixed opinion and the best
choice is to remain with carrier squelch.

It appears that the original tone freq was
150 Hz - PRC-25 era - but my BC785D only suppports
the commercial standard of 151.4 Hz. I'll run
some checks on this rig to see how setting for
151.4 Hz repsonds to a 150 Hz PL. The PLL decoder 
probably isn't as persnickety as vibrasponders.
