Greetings everyone,

A couple of logs of interest today, so far.

ATLAS 7 - CC130 Hercules departed Regina about 1945 UTC today, Aug 17. VFR 
eastbound from Regina, did not catch the destination. I have ATLAS as a 
callsign used by the Trenton Hercules aircraft, but I'm not sure which 
squadron. Aircraft on VHF (Regina Terminal 120.1).

DEMO 01 - Unknown type of aircraft, inbound for Saskatoon. Operating UHF 
only, on Winnipeg Centre 266.3, attempted handoff to Saskatoon Terminal 
323.0, another attempt to handoff to Saskatoon Tower 244.7. No doubt one 
(or more?) of the aircraft for this weekend's "Saskatchewan Remembers" 
Airshow in Saskatoon. At this time (2048 UTC), DEMO 01 should be on 
approach to Saskatoon, but right now out of my range.

Problems with the UHF communications were more than likely due to the lack 
of use of the UHF transceivers by ATC. Almost all of the Canadian military 
aircraft now use VHF when talking to ATC outside of a Canadian Air Force 
Air Base. When a military aircraft comes through using UHF, ATC sometimes 
don't even know if the UHF equipment is working or not.
