To my friends here on the milcom list.

Some will be surprised (and few will be happy) to know that the
Utility Communications Digest column in the May Popular
Communications is my last.

So before the rumor-mill cranks up and people begin speculating that
I must have been fired, let me assure you I wasn't . I

left Pop Comm for personal reasons that have nothing to do with the magazine.

I enjoyed my time at Pop Comm despite coming under the fire of a few
internet-egg-throwing know-it-alls. In fact, I welcomed the
criticism because it helped keep me on my toes, making me all that
determined to write a column that was well researched, accurate and
above all interesting.

I hope who ever helms the Utility Digest from here on has as much
fun as I did.

I'd like to thank the many contributors who supported this column and
took the time to send in their loggings, stories, ideas and photos.

All of you helped to make the column what I hope it was: a good
read, filled with NEW information and utility news you could all use.

Special thanks to Harold Ort for giving me the opportunity to write
about radio again. Harold assures me I can still write feature
articles for the magazine from time to time, so although it is
goodbye, its not really farewell.

Now its on to other things. New challenges await me. I'm on the
verge of starting a new career and a new chapter in my life. I hope
the friends I made during my stint at Pop Comm will keep in touch.

Again, thanks to everyone who contributed.

-Steve Douglass
