After some of my smarter friends on the list emailed me my little N4491R
appears to have been solved. For the first time ever my BC-796D has caught a
harmonic. The VHF civ aircraft freq 118.000 MHz is one of the
Approach/Departure Control frequencies for TYS (Knoxville A/D). Apparently
4491R was nearly overhead here when he made his call and I heard it on the
2nd harmonic (236.000 MHz). Humm wonder if he QSLs? ;-))
I have 236.000 programmed in the 796 because it is a USAF Nationwide
Survival Rescue freq. That is why I orginally listed this as a mystery. Now
mystery is solved. Thanks to those who spent some time with me looking into
this interesting occurrence.
