[MilCom] CB Antenna for Milcom Aero?

I've got a Hustler (1970/1980's era) CB antenna.   Wondering if anyone on 
the list has had any experience using CB antennas for milcom aero type 
monitoring without cutting the antenna.  Presently I basically use portable 
antennas attached to the base/portable scanners.  The antenna would be 
mounted at ground level (perhaps just a 5 foot pipe) & the antenna itself is 
about 20 feet high, I would not use the radials for safety reasons.  Will it 
work better than the portable antennas on the back of the scanners?  Any 
idea as to the difference in signal strength when compared to an all band 
antenna (e.g. "Scantenna")?
