Well my mailbox is filling up with USAF press release but here's some main
items.

*Contingency Aeromedical Evacuation Facility has been set up at Armstrong
Int Airport New Orleans (staffed by Willford Hall Medical Center, MacDill, &
Andrews personnel). Additionally a Mental Health & Dental contignency teams
have also been deployed to that locaton.

*Apparently all aeromedical strategic evacuations are taking patients to
Kelly AFB (aero medical evacution hub), San Antonio, Tx. The reason is that
there's a facility built there to handle patients (e.g. appropriate ramps)
and there's over 36 hospitals in the area to handle patients.

*An AF ACC Red Horse Squadron repaired the Keesler AFB, MS runway so that it
could be used.
* Plenty of Helicopters on the way or there to include:
** 6 UH-1N Hueys (from Minot, FE Warren, Malstrom, Vandenberg), based at
Columbus AFB, MS.
**ACC 25 HH-60 Helos, 125 pilots, rescue medics, etc, staging out of Jackson
MS.
*ACC & AMC C130 aircraft staging out of Patrick AFB (FL), & Moody AFB GA, to
brining in supplies to Louis Armstrong Airport New Orleans.
*Combat Controllers are controlling aircraft movement into Louis Armstrong
Airport & NAS New Orleans.
*AMC has AF/ANG/AFRC C5's, C17's, C130's, C141's transporting supplies into
Keesler AFB as well as New Orleans with appropriate support cargo handling
personnel.
*Five Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resources Base units and Airmen from
Holloman AFB, N.M. Each of these transportable sets includes billeting,
kitchen, shower and latrine support for more than 500 people (the guys &
gals from Westover's 439 AW C5 transported this, per a news segment this
evening on WWLP-TV -- stated that the entire load was ).
*OC-135 & U2 over flights continue in support of FEMA.
*Joint Task Force Katrina has been established at Camp Shelby, Hattiesburg,
Miss. JTF Katrina is responsible for coordinating and directing all
military relief efforts associated with the relief efforts.
*2 "Hammer Ace" units have been deployed to Kessler AFB MS.
* 2, 250 bed contingency hospitals will be set up at the Northwest FL
Fairgrounds, Ft Walton Beach, FL.. which will support a 1000 person refugee
camp. Refugee camp equipment is coming via 41 tractor trailers coming from
Holloman AFB NM.
*EPA & Air Force are using "ASPECT" aircraft ID any pollution.
* Barksdale AFB, La., has been designated by the Federal Emergency
Management Agency as its Federal Mobilization Center.

That's it for now.. Monitoring hobbyists in all of these areas should gear
up to listening for any action!!!

Ken
