Well the November 2005 issue of "Popular Communications" magazine seems to
have gone from editorial famine to fest regarding milcom & aviation
communications.

First we've got Harold Ort's "Tuning In editorial column "We Can See Clearly
Now" (1 1/2 pages), where Ort (who sheds his typical Pop Comm 3 piece suit)
and disguised as a typical "on scene" monitoring hobbyists performs overt
surveillance of a military base and reports surprising results.

Next is Steve Douglass' feature article "Goin Above 30 mhz: What's The
Right Milcom Receiver for You" (3 pages) -- Here's the inside scopp on
what's hot & what's not!! Steve take a look at about 14 scanners both old &
new.. He even recommend's naming some of those milcom frequencies in the
scanner, such as "winchester" & "magnum" to aid in properly id'd those
freqs...

Additionally Allarn Stern's monthly column "Military Radio Monitoring on
VHF, UHF, HF, & Satellite" (4 pages) take a look at some FL & GA specific
exercises, operations, & frequencies (through his own personal monitoring
efforts) & some contributions from one other -- some of which appear to have
been posted to this list in the past by Mac McCormick. Stern continues to
ask for reader's input/support for his column.

Finally we got Steve Douglass' "Utility Communications Digest" -- 'Return to
Space Update: And Why It Doesn't Pay to Be Shy!' (2 pages+2 pages (other
items)) Steve does a very good job of describing his recent "on scene"
adventure in the Amarillo area at his favorite diner where on a
"double-dog-dare" he approaches & talks with some NASA aviators.

Also as a side note the "Plane Sense" (3 pages), column reappears "More Time
to Monitor, & Tuning Florida"....
