WWLP-TV 22 news this evening is reporting that the 104th Fighter Wing
(Barnes ANGB, Westfield, MA), Security Police Squadron will be conducting
air base defense exercises on Saturday 10/15/05 from 1030 to 2200 hrs..
Blank ammunition & exposives will be used, so they were letting people know
in the area so they wouldn't be alarmed.

Barnes ANGB has traditionally utilized freqs in the 148-150.8 mhz range
Grove's "Military Frequency Directory" 2nd edition (now bundled with Federal
Frequency Directory & Shortwave Directory see
 http://www.grove-ent.com/FREQMASFILE.html for NEW pricing - a real
bargain!!!!!!) lists 8 land mobile radio nets VHF freqs. There are some
additional new freqs that have been monitored in use in this band. I'd
guess that there will be 3 security tactical freqs & 1 exercise evaluation
team coordination freq in use. Also there is a possibility the some UHF
(396 to 420 mhz range) freqs could be used for intersquad short range comms.
It's highly recommended that all federal bands be searched if "on scene".

Could prove to be a real monitoring challenge for hobbyists. 'On Scene'
activities can safely be performed at the gravel parking lot next to the
civilian airport administration building/control tower.
