I'm continuing with my review of the Military Frequency Directory 2nd
edition, after having a
chance to utilize it for awhile.
Remember that this is now bundled as a portion of Grove's "Frequency Master
File"
See: Website http://www.grove-ent.com/FREQMASFILE.html
Unlike other frequency directories on CD-ROM ('Police Call'), I was able to
save the entire
frequency directory on to my hard disk to make it easier to access and also
made a back up copy
on a CD-ROM just in case I lost/damaged the other and/or my hard disk
crashed. Also it's
important to install Adobe Reader version 6 that is included with the disk
since there's some
new features that are very helpful.
No frequency directory is perfect, it becomes a work in progress/process as
soon as the new
edition hits the printer, or in this case the CD-ROM burner.
765 pages is a lot of information to digest and review. So I took the
approach to basically
search for information that might be of interest to hobbyists.
It's important prior to initiating a electronic search to review the Service
Legend &
Miscellaneous Acronyms (pages 13 through 18) to help focus your search, as
well as to look at
the exact format used within a sampling of the listings before you initiate
a search.
Here's some quick summary of some searches:
