<New Orleans - Friday - 10:15 Local>

CAJUN 31 (A-10, 926th FW/706th FS, NAS New Orleans) called in-flight emergency (IFE) at 10:15 local this morning. Seems CAJUNs 31, 41 & 91 had to RTB from the range at WARRIOR MOA Ft Polk, LA due to a malfunction of his GAU-8/A 30mm main gun.

CAJUN 31 holding over Lake Leary, 10 miles SE of NAS New Orleans to burn down fuel to 5000 lbs.

Comms have been on:
351.2 - CAJUN CP UNIFORM
138.425 - CAJUN CP VICTOR
139.625 - CAJUN A/A
138.25  - CAJUN A/A
139.975 - V-18
351.2 - CAJUN Maint Ops (shared w/ 159th FW, LA ANG F-15s)

Problem described - when he attempted to fire the gun, heard a loud bang then gun jammed.

CAJUN 91 gave 31 a look over and found no external damage or leaks.

Last I heard they were on approach at 3000ft for runway 22 full length stop. It seems all went well. I'm 14 air miles from NAS N.O. near Lakefront Airport (KNEW) and usually loose comms when planes get below 3000.

*Two other CAJUNs were headed north towards Tuscaloosa, AL around 11:45 local, A/A comms on 139.825 (V-20).
