If the RATS had a British accent (one with a very Scottish brogue like Sean
Connery) these guys would have been British fighter instructor pilots that
have been working out of Cold Lake's little NATO pilot training school.
These guys also use the the callsign RAFT. The Hawk jet trainer and
finally CF-18 are used for training.
It appears that there are some Canadian pilots out on the ranges in the
southeast U.S. Nice way to bag some rays and get away from the cabin
fever cold.
The ranges out of Cold Lake are having some telemetry and EW additions. I
would not be surprised if there is some training taking place on how to use
the new stuff.
Apparently, there is a rumor, based only on conjecture, hearsay, and urban
legend, that a Snowbird pilot from the demonstration team
"accidently" misplaced one of his flight-suits to what is known as a
"Southern Belle" or "Georgia Peach". This apparent incident occurred a
few years ago. I forgot when this apparent incident happened.
Should one of you gentlemen notice the above mentioned wearing such attire
at an air-show or other place where pilots frequent please post a message
on milcom at your leisure.
Cheers:
