It is 2:54pm.
CHECK 63, an F/A-18 flying in the CHECK 61 flight, has just had a dual
electrical failure. They had been flying southward, probably en route to NAS Key
West. Now, they are up on Miami Ctr's 285.5 trying to make it into MacDill AFB,
the closest airport with arresting gear. They considered putting down at
little Sebring Airport, but they need the acft arresting gear and MacDill is the
closest airport with the cable.
Sounding very dire because in the process, CHECK 63's mic is stuck in the
open position and he is unable to hear comms. They are trying to ctct him on
301.95 air-air; his nickname is Maverick. But he does not hear them.
I can no longer hear them and hope someone near MacDill can inform of the
situation.
