Interesting catch yesterday while mobile between Fargo, ND and
Minneapolis.
300.125 MHz Chill 31 5th BW from Minot AFB. This is a common
A-A channel used by the 5th BW as well as NORAD Blue 40.
Sounded like a bombing excercise getting orders from Shadow.
I have no idea who Shadow was...none of the listed users
of this callsign seem to fit. Any ideas? Was this ABNCP?
There were several other Chills on this freq...
Some, like Chill 2, had peculiar characteristic...
Chill 2's audio was very noisy but the carrier was very strong
and it had a double squelch tail. I'd hear their carrier drop but
the strong signal was still present and then it would drop.
It sounded like there was some type of airborne repeater
in use. Has anyone ever heard this before or have any ideas?
