Check out the article:
http://www.nationaldefensemagazine.org/issues/2005/Sep/Reaction_Force.htm
Interestingly the Army National Guard now appears to have 3 distinct
response forces on alert:
*Reaction Force -- company sized unit (appears to be rotated among various
companies -- probably Military Police type units?)
*Civil Support Team
*Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear or High Yield Response Force
Package (CBRFP)
The article further states that a company size team can respond in 24 hrs &
a battalion size team in 24 hrs. 54 states/territories have such teams.
Don't recall seeing any press release other than for the CBRFP. For
alerting purposes, my guess would be that they are carrying pagers and
perhaps the CBRFP teams have nextel or similar cellphones/pcs devices. I
would imagine that the deployed teams might have access to a variety of "on
scene" type radio systems (probably encrypted) as well as satellite
connectivity back to headquarters.
So my "just the facts" information series will continue.
