While still waiting for Santa (NORAD reports he's entering Florida air
space, 2219 hrs eastern time local) continue to do some research. Take a
look at the complete Thales Communications website
http://www2.racalcomm.com/ including the press releases... Just wonder how
many ICOM ISR low power portable radios
(http://www.icomamerica.com/press/index2000.asp which were introduced in
2000 are being used & who is using them in the military. In the same press
release index, there's also mention of the US Army's "Soldier's Intercom"
which is the model IC-F3S
(http://www.icomamerica.com/land_mobile/portablevhf/icf3main.asp) (22000
units initially ordered).. Has anyone actually seen any of these being used?
I don't recall seeing any US Army/Army National Guard/Reserve units with
these at any base open houses/air shows this last summer.
ISR low power freqs are:
FM 396.8750 ISR Channel 01
FM 397.1250 ISR Channel 02
FM 397.1750 ISR Channel 03
FM 397.3750 ISR Channel 04
FM 397.4250 ISR Channel 05
FM 397.4750 ISR Channel 06
FM 397.5500 ISR Channel 07
FM 397.9500 ISR Channel 08
FM 398.0500 ISR Channel 09
FM 399.4250 ISR Channel 10
FM 399.4750 ISR Channel 11
FM 399.7250 ISR Channel 12
FM 399.9250 ISR Channel 13
FM 399.9750 ISR Channel 14

BTW another great unofficial site for military portable radio comms is:
http://www.specwargear.com/communication.html which does show the ICOM ISR
portable radio being used by combat troops as well as some other Motorola
gear in common use.
