Hummm, my 396T Close Call works better than my 97 Signal Stalker, and I am
NOT bank limited with the 396T (Dynamic Memrory Assignment has no equal at
Radio Shack) like the 97. We conducted several side by side test in this
regard and it appears that performance levels depend a lot on the radio
environment you use the radios in.

One thing to keep in mind is we do not want Close Call/Signal Stalker to
have to much range (line of sight is just fine). If you need more range then
we have a thing called the "search mode." It is called "CLOSE CALL" and if
it receives signals to far away we won't be able to spot the target that is
transmitting, and thus the reason we use this capability, find new close end
transmitters and IDing the source. Think of CC or SS as a freq counter for
close in work.

On a lighter note, tis my favorite time of year. I hope everyone has a Merry
Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and a great New Year. As we move into the 9th
year here on the Milcom list, as the founding father of this list, I want to
thank all of you for your support to this, the best on the net for military
air monitoring info. Lots of imitators and wannabe regional and local list
out there, but NONE of them get close to the one and only Milcom, over 1200
folks who hang around here aren't wrong. They know where to get the good
stuff. ;-)))

I have made many friends here over the years, and have had to deal with a
few jerks also. ;-)) Always keep in mind the three golden rules to live by
(and not get kicked off here) that I set up when I started this list in
1997:

1) No personal attacks by subscribers on this list on others either on list
or in private email about comments made on this list. Everyone is entitled
to their personal opinions and are free to express them here, but you cross
a line when you flame individuals (privately or on list). Remember lets not
beat a dead horse or each other here folks. If your told told to knock it
off, take it private and knock it off.

2) Keep it on topic. We should never see "off topic" or "slightly off topic"
mentioned in subject lines or message contents. If you think it is off topic
or slightly off topic (we discuss Milcom communications only here) then it
should not be posted. Plain and simple, right?

3) Post and have fun. That is what has made this place on the net
successful. Milcom monitoring is the best part of the radio hobby in the
entire radio spectrum. Enjoy your stay here and be please be courteous to
each other.

Again I hope you and your families have a safe, prosperous and happy 2006.
