Hello Duane & the group:

Well "Monitoring Times" has the top 1000 HF utility freqs see
http://www.monitoringtimes.com/html/mttopHF.html
which includes military allocations.. Typical would be the GHFS freqs,
etc... see http://www.monitoringtimes.com/html/mtghfs.html Most of the
freqs could probably be monitored worldwide.

As far as VHF/UHF freqs are concerned, I would think that this would be
rather regionalized to your normal monitoring area. Many of the so called
national freqs e.g. METRO/WX 342.5 are being replaced with a specific base
metro freqs that varies by base.. However, there are still some nationwide
and/or major command wide frequencies, e.g. 252.1, 303.0, 364.2, 372.2,
etc....

>From a regional standpoint it would be air to ground freqs for Base
Operations, Command Posts, Metro Wx, perhaps some units air/air tactial,
SOF, etc.

If folks check the archives (August 2004) here they will find that I've
extracted from the DOD IFR Supplement and formatted in a by state sort the
Metro/Wx, Command Post, Base Operations (Pilot to Dispatch), ANG Ops, &
Range Frequencies... This would be a great starting point.

I might also add that 'Grove's Military Frequency Directory' (2nd Edition,
Copyright 2004) has got many air/air tactical freqs by base/unit listed --
many, many!!!

Finally for those folks that are close enough to bases to monitor the land
mobile radio support nets (e.g. security/law enforcement, fire/crash, base
operations, aircraft maintenance, etc,) this definitely enhances the aero
monitoring aspect. Again Grove's Military Frequency Directory (2nd edition)
has a very large number of bases listed.

See my initial review of this publication in the May 2004 posting archieves.

BTW no frequency directory is perfect, but it sure can save one a lot of
time trying to search for all the active frequencies in your local area....
