The Delta 2 was launched moments ago at 12:39am. Although it
disappeared behind a heavy cloud layer soon after launch, it remained fairly visible
through my 10x50mm binoculars. I was watching it rise as the launch officer
announced that it had reached Mach 1. At that moment it was glowing brightly and
streaking to the southeast. It was somewhat quieter than previous DELTAs,
probably due to the cloud layer.
WEATHER ONE announced his RTB to St Pete on Miami Ctr 132.25 (and then
127.2), Patrick's MAYAAP CP is busy with the JOLLYs on 393.0 (JOLLYs also on
255.5 with their Ops), Cape Leader and Variety are up on l41.3, and AirScan's
ROBIN range clearance acft have RTBd to Space Coast RAP with comms to their
Batcave Base on 123.475 and to Cape Control on 133.8. Quite a few of CCAFS's VHF
freqs were active tonight, in addition to the 400-MHz trunk. I did not note
each of their freqs, but you know Mike Comer did.
