Greetings all,
After performing at the Saskatchewan Airshow this weekend at their home
base of CFB Moose Jaw, the SNOWBIRDS are "back on the road" again.
Somewhere between 1400 and 1430 UTC this morning (June 15), the SNOWBIRDS
departed Moose Jaw. I started monitoring them at 1430, by which time they
were well on their way. SNOWBIRD 1 Flight lead the way, followed by
SNOWBIRD 4 Flight, and finally SNOWBIRD 9 Flight. They were heading
eastbound, and were briefly talking to Regina Terminal on 120.1, but for
the most part they were with Winnipeg Centre on 123.8. They were initially
cleared to FL 230, but around Brandon SNOWBIRD 1 Flight requested a
standard block between 270 and 290 to clear some weather buildups. All
three flights eventually took the same block. They were then cleared to
9000 for an approach into Winnipeg. My guess is they were stopping there
for fuel, as they are no doubt enroute to their next scheduled show in
Hanover, Ontario, tomorrow.
Air to air frequencies in use were 272.1, 246.5, and 242.6. I could not
tell which flight was using which air to air frequency.
I also heard one of the SNOWBIRDS briefly talking to Moose Jaw Base Ops on
340.1.
