Greetings everyone,

Some logs of interest this weekend. I don't have exact times for these
logs, sorry. I was trying to monitor as well as do chores around the house.
No doubt I missed a few things......

The Saskatchewan Air Show was held yesterday, Sunday June 13, 2004, at CFB
Moose Jaw. Being the home base for the Snowbirds, it goes without saying
who the closing act was for the aerial display.

The following were monitored on the usual VHF ATC frequencies for the
Regina/Moose Jaw area.

Saturday, June 12, 2004

SNOWBIRDS on 272.1 air to air, rehearsal around noon Saturday for their
Sunday performance. Weather wasn't the greatest, some discussions on doing
low and flat shows due to low clouds.
APACHE 1 - CT156 Hawk, NATO Flight Training Centre (NFTC), Moose Jaw. While
all of the show aircraft were arriving, he was leaving. Destination
unknown.
VIKING 15 - Flight Instructor School (FIS), Moose Jaw, probably another
CT156 Hawk. Again, departed Moose Jaw while everyone else was arriving.
SUNDANCE 11 - From Southport, Manitoba, type of aircraft unknown. From
Southport landed Regina, probably for fuel, then departed to Moose Jaw.
TEST 360 - Unknown type of aircraft, heading to Moose Jaw. (Possibly
Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment AETE, Cold Lake, but not
confirmed.)
RANGER 75 - Helicopter from Southport, Manitoba. Landed Regina for fuel,
then departed Moose Jaw.

LARK 29 - CF-18, 425 Sqn, CFB Bagotville. LARK 29 flew into Regina from
Moose Jaw VFR, following the Trans-Canada highway. LARK 29 was then cleared
for a low VFR pass (1000 AGL) from south to north, over Albert Street, the
main street in Regina. Upon reaching the north edge of the city, LARK 29
then turned around (above my house) for a return pass from north to south
over Albert Street. Of course this pass took LARK 29 right through the
approach path for runway 26. ATC advised an airliner on approach that he
might see the CF-18 on his TCAAS, but that there is no conflict, passing
well in front of the commercial aircraft. After completing the pass, LARK
29 then returned VFR to Moose Jaw. All this was on Regina Tower 118.6. On
arrival in Moose Jaw, LARK 29 did some passes there as well, based on his
communications with Moose Jaw Tower 126.2.

(Due to the low clouds and low visibility from rain and mist, could not get
a very good view of the CF-18 until he was right over the house.)

DEMON 75 - CP-140 Aurora aircraft, CFB Comox. The Aurora did an IFR
approach into Regina for a touch and go on runway 31, then departed IFR for
Moose Jaw. Unfortunately due to the low visibility I could not see the
aircraft from the house.

APEX 5 - Flew into Moose Jaw. Aircraft type and origin unknown.

Sunday, June 13, 2004

I could not monitor anything during the airshow itself, unfortunately.
However, in the evening after the show ended, the following were logged:

SNAPPER 18 - CT156 Hawk, Standards, Moose Jaw. Flew into Moose Jaw after
the show ended.

SENTRY 05 - E3 AWACS aircraft, 552 ACW, Tinker AFB, OK. SENTRY 05 on patch
through RAYMOND 21 on 321.0, requesting weather for Tinker. SENTRY 05
stated he departed Cold Lake at 2320 UTC, presumably enroute back to
Tinker. This AWACS would have been involved in the Maple Flag exercise at
CFB Cold Lake. The exercises ended Friday. Normally, the visiting aircraft
either return on Friday, or Saturday. I don't know why he stayed over until
Sunday.
