This post from my visit to WY-ANG Open House at Cheyenne , WY
Freqs as Follows:
Ground: 121.90/254.275
Tower: 118.70/257.80
Approach/Departure: 125.90/284.70 and 124.55/263.075
Thunderbirds: 143.85 didn't look for others.
257.80: TETON-77, (C-130H, WY-ANG), land.
118.70: PAT-513, (C-12), land.
118.70: SMOKY-50, (C-21A, Peterson), fly-by and then cleared back to
Colorado Springs.
254.275: TETON-77, (C-130H, WY-ANG), cleared out with Jumpers. ((Made 3
passes over the field and dropped members of the AF Academy Jump Team.
284.70: STEALTH-01, flight of 2, (F-117A, Holloman), inbound for the fly-by.
Switched to Tower, 118.70 for the fly-bys when Tower had problems with UHF.
Made 3 low passes before switching 263.075 and getting clearance to Holloman
via another fly-by at the AF Academy. ((Not sure, but they may have tanked with
HUSKER-15 near Rapid City, SD before heading for their fly-bys. Only one of
the 2 did the fly-bys. Other loitered overhead.))
121.90: TETON-01, flight of 2, (1 C-130H, NC-ANG and 1 C-130H, AK-ANG),
cleared out to the west. Apparently just goofed around out west of Cheyenne for an
hour until their part of the show.
284.70: THUNDER-61, (B-1B, Ellsworth), inbound for fly-by. Switched Tower
257.80 for fly-by. Party pooper only made one low and slow pass over the field
before heading back to Elsworth.
121.90: MAFFS-01, (C-130H, WY-ANG), cleared out for (firefighting)
demonstration. Did an impressive drop, but missed the fire completely. Base fire trucks
had to go put it out. ((In all fairness however, the fire consisted of stacks
of pallets and MAFFS had problems with one of his pressure valves which
resulted in an abnormal drop))
118.70: MUSTANG-01, (P-51/A-10A), Heritage fly-bys. Made about 5 passes.
118.70: HOG-01, flight of 2, (A-10A, Davis-Monthan), land. One of these
birds was involved in the heritage fly-by.
254.275: THUNDERBIRD-1, flight of 6, (F-16, Nellis), cleared out for
Showtime. Unfortunately the Thunderbird show was mainly for Cheyenne Frontier Days
Rodeo and was performed about 10-15 miles south of the airport. From what we
could see, the show was low (due to clouds), short and uninspired. Didn't even
make a fly-by of the Airshow prior to landing. Nor did they do their usual sharp
taxi past the crowd. Just kind of straggled back to their parking spots. Were
roundly boo-ed by the Airshow crowd. Diamond worked 143.85. Wasn't interesting
enough to search for the solos. One thing of interest was the fact that
aircraft #4 was a "D" model. The 2 spares were "C's" and were not numbered.
125.90: TETON-01, flight of 4, (C-130's: Original TETON-1 flight, plus
TETON-77 and MAFFS-01), inbound for formation fly-by. After fly-by, each landed
under his own callsign. TETON-01 flight (the original 2-ship) landed as EPIC-55
and SCARS-56.
And that was about it. Will post the static display numbers when I get them
sorted out. Probably tomorrow.
