I attended the Pensacola Beach show last Friday.
I'd loaded all of the freqs that have been reported over the last 20 years, and
noted only these in use:
143.6 I had it programmed in AM mode, but after the show I realized it must
have been transmitted in FM as the modulation (deviation?) was much lower that
the rest of the comms, used for pre-show coordination from the beach back to
the base and to boss before the show.
265.000 Solos and four ship
284.250 Four ship and six ship
(note: I did not discover these, they were reported to me by other list
members. I'm just confirming their use).
Never heard a thing on any of the other freqs. No Fat Al, no other FM freqs.
I believe I was missing the main solo freq, but I did not have the facilities
to search for it. The old PRO-60 was not up to the task.
Anyway, I've concluded that the Blues have re-farmed their freqs. Toss out the
old lists.
We also visited the Blue's base and chatted with a couple of the pilots
(terminally polite guys). The Blues had 11 F-18s visible outside the closed
hangar. There were three No. 7 ships and two ships with no numbers. They were
preparing seven ships for the show that day.
Also saw three agressor F-5s, one black, painted with a Russian looking No. 25
and a red star on the tail.
