[MilCom] New Uniden Portables NOT MILCOM Capable!?

Seems pretty disappointing to me that UNIDEN's new selection of upcoming
portables won't give MILCOM UHF AM aero nor allow changing modes in 138-144
mhz band(?).
Same holds true for the new Radio Shack portable PRO 96 - and one guy in
VT reports poor receiving results with using software expandable to UHF AM
range and using a milcom capable portable at the same time.
Both companies still offer base units that give milcom coverage..
Most hobbyists have limited money they can invest in a new scanner so want
the capability to do everything!!!. Also from a practical standpoint who
wants to carry two scanners on their belts at an airshow or anywhere else
for that matter!! When you add an FRS/GMRS radio, digital camera &
binoculars, it's time to add a wagon to transport in the equipment!!! :) ;)
All of the other companies (e.g. ICOM, Yaesu, AOR, Alinco) offering milcom
capable portable scanners don't seem to have the capabilities to do
analog/digital trunking or digital conventional.
I'll admit I've got an ICOM R2 & a RS Pro 26 (which is getting worn &
tired!!!) that are milcom capable & one of those will be used "On Scene"
walking in the show area (probably the R2) BUT I'd sure like to have a
scanner that has it all (if I need/choose to use it at the time).
Perhaps the hobby "market" just isn't there for milcom UHF AM Aero or VHF
(138-144) AM ops inclusion in these trunking analog/digital portable
scanners.....BUT again it sure would be nice!!!
