Seems to be few monitors in the area...or monitors with no power and
internet capabilities. I caught SAM 28000 on Miami Center at the departure,
but that's about it. No local reports regarding airspace or motorcade comms
have been posted. Based on my talk with an aerial photographer doing a
damage assessment flight on Saturday, there should be plenty to hear on all
bands. Local public safety was hit hard, and several temporary systems have
apparently been setup. State and Federal response is very heavy, as is the
response from utility companies and other infrastructure contractors. The
Amateur Radio community, as always, has responded and is already in need of
personnel and supply replenishments. I suspect most of the on-site comms are
simplex at this time.
Using published photos as a guide, I suspect there are a variety of USAF
security and logistics nets at Lakeland and some National Guard radio
activity at Punta Gorda. My capabilities from Miami are limited, but I'm
going to monitor low band tonight for any Red Cross and National Guard
activity, plus MilCom just in case an airborne signal makes it this far
south.
