[MilCom] Radio Scanners at airshows

Here's a thought,
I hear that auto races acknowledge the use of scanners by the general
public, heck, I was in a home Depot or Lowe's and they had an annoucement
about their racing team, and talked about getting frequencies!! I think
we need to find someone who can represent us as scannerists, and ask the
powers that be why scanners are allowed at races but not at airshows. They
will probably come back with the "security" reply, but why is it ok for
us to hear security at a race track and not at a military base,(which
would encrypt the sensitive stuff anyway)?

I do not have a radio license, but if that's what it takes for me to
legally have a scanner in my hand, I would get that license.

Is it me or does it seem that in some places in our country it is easier
to legally carry a gun than it is to carry a scanner?
As far as the Florida airshow goes, I have been told it is illegal to
have a scanner in your car, unless you are a licensed radio operator.

Any ideas???
