Message-ID: <121210.71c0bf19.42d33483@aol.com> Back in June, I posted the query about callsign Red River. I received some responses suggesting it is the AF Global Strike Command Post at Minot AFB or at Barksdale AFB, but nothing definitive. On 6 July I posted my logging of Red River working a Dyess C-130 ["11175 kHz USB 1459z: Red River working "Aegis 73" (C-130 74-1673, Dyess AFB) for radio check. To my knowledge there has never been a definitive answer. I have discussed this question before in the MilRadioComms Group and in private emails with several long-time radio monitors. I am bringing it up again in the hopes that some newer members might be able to shed some light. Previous suppositions have been that Red River is: 1. A special mission/facility at Barksdale AFB, LA, not a CP. 2. The STRATCOM facility at Barksdale AFB, LA. 3. The 5th Bomb Wing CP or at Minot AFB, ND. In the Barksdale AFB area, the Red River separates Shreveport from Bossier City, and on Barksdale AFB, there is a dining hall known as Red River Dining Facility. In North Dakota, there is a Red River near Grand Forks. Can anyone help in this discussion. Message-ID: <11bf23.26b5cefe.42ea4a00@aol.com> US Navy P-8A "Lima Lima 801" (BuNo 168762) up with Miami Ctr on 119.825 advising that US Navy's "Lima Lima 82" has no VHF radio operating and will be landing Myrtle Beach. Advises the callsign of the troubled plane is "LL 82" and not "LL 802." Then 801 is heard in comms with 82 on 121.5, but since 82 has no operating VHF radio, the air-air might have been a simulcast from 243.0.
