I am a certificated pilot. Simple terms - I hold a valid pilots license.
1) I deal with NOTAMS every time I prepare to fly. They include things
such as possible obstructions in proximity to an airfield, and
information regarding comms, ILS outages, and parachute operations. It
is additional info that an aircrew needs to be aware of prior to
operating in the proximity to either the planned routs, or planned
destination.
2) The four character - ICAO designation is NOW the current
"International" way to describe or identify an airport or airfield.
3) Your local airport or airfield always had a three character
identifier. I.e., Manassas,, VA airport - HEF. In the ICAO system, it
is identified as KHEF.
The link provided initially, was the link at the top in the "http"
information line AFTER the completion of the search. That's why it was
not repeatable. Even though it was actually correct at the END of the
search for information
