Normally this would be emailed directly to those who attended the swap based on the prize registration cards, at least those who included a legible email address. But since there was no admission charge or prizes this year, hopefully most this year?s attendees are subscribed to at least one of the radio email lists. We all know why we had to abandon the Home School Building this year, we do look forward to returning in 2021. It turned out relocating to the Red Cross parking lot, rather than canceling, was a fantastic move. The main lot against the Red Cross building was filled with vendors, the back lots where shoppers parked. It?s anyone?s guess how many attended, but there were lots of folks with plenty of room for the social distancing thing. Lots of sales and bargains to be had. If you didn?t make it, you missed a unique and fun swap. See you at the next swap and at GRAHamfest 2?21 next September. To anyone staying home because of a slight possible chance of rain, the rain held off until the event was over. Your loss. AND SINCE WE?RE HERE, the next social event is the INDEPENDENT REPEATER ASSOCIATION (IRA) OPEN HOUSE / SITE CLEANUP, Saturday, September 26, starting 9AM, emphasize you do not need to partake in the cleanup part, we welcome your presence. Rain date Saturday, October 3. This will take place at the 92nd St ?The Hill? tower site. Walker, Jr." : I've been asked by a ham radio club to do a presentation on DXing in rural central Alaska. I spent about 16 months in Galena, back in 2016 and 2017 while working as the program director for a public/community radio station. It was a very unique situation with some special considerations one might not have to deal with elsewhere. I spent alot of time and money experimenting there and had some pretty amazing results. I will also briefly discuss what it was like as a radio broadcaster in Alaska and the technical challenges we faced in the course of doing business every day. The presentation will be done using the Zoom smartphone app and website. You don't need to have or enable the camera on your phone or computer?to participate and there will also be options to simply dial in and listen by phone as well for those who don't want to use the computer or have a smart phone. The presentation?will be on Friday October 30th at 8pm eastern time. Pre registration is required?but its very simple and easy. I'd love to have you there. Please spread the word to any ham clubs, dxing clubs, email lists, facbeook groups or messages boards. Email me directly, walkerbroadcasting at gmail.com with any questions and if I don't have an answers, I'll refer you to the club managers for assistance.
