THE FOLLOWING PUBLIC SERVICE EVENTS are in need of amateur radio volunteers.
I’m changing the order of this monthly listing to highlight the need for radio volunteers. Let’s face it, most hams NEVER volunteer. Consider volunteering for at least ONE PER YEAR.
(This one appers to be full as of press time. If you’re available, it wouldn’t hurt to make contact in case of a lst minute vacancy)
Riverside Radio Amateurs and Ionia County RACES/ARES will be helping out with the Dirty 30 bike race, Saturday, March 30, on our back roads in Ionia County again this year. Raymond Passchier is the one doing the race and he was thinking about doing a 50 mile track or more this year, he did a 30 mile last year. With that being said we will need more operators to be placed on the course. Raymond is talking about starting at 10am. The op would need at least a dual band HT, a mobile radio would be better.

HAMVENTION BUS TRIP, Saturday, May 18.
Don’t you wish you were going? You’re not looking forward to that long drive? Don’t drive! Take the Arrow bus! It’s inexpensive and easy. Relieve yourself of more than 8 hours of drive time!
As in years past, The Arrow Communication Association is sponsoring a bus trip from Ann Arbor, Michigan to the Greene County Fairgrounds and Expo Center in Xenia, Ohio and back, Saturday, May 18. We leave the park-and-ride at 5:00 am and get to the show at 9:00 am. We leave Xenia at 5:30 pm and arrive back to our large park-and-ride site by 9:30 pm. A continental breakfast is included on board.
We have reserved a flea market space! Every year, Arrow reserves a swap spot just for the bus trip crowd. All we ask is that you keep your items to a reasonable limit and that you volunteer at least one hour of your time at the swap tables.
The cost is $55.00 for the round trip. (This increases to $65.00 on or after April 1), this does not include the Hamvention ticket.
