I have recently been appointed ARRL's Michigan Legislative Coordinator. We
are trying to get 2 ARRL members from each Congressional district to serve
as Legislative Assistants to the ARRL program. The volunteers would not
have to spend a lot of time on this project.
Thanks!

Dear Affiliated Club Contact:
As the newly appointed Michigan Legislative Action Chairperson for the ARRL
Great Lakes Division, I need your support and help in recruiting additional
volunteers as Legislative Action Assistants (LAAs). The ARRL Legislative
Action Program is designed to make it possible for ARRL members to promote
and protect Amateur Radio through coordinated, legitimate political action
at the Federal government level.
To be eligible to participate in the ARRL legislative program, members need
to participate in a brief training program before making calls on
legislators. The ARRL provides background information on legislation, the
names and addresses of their Congressmen, educational leave-behind leaflets,
and sample draft letters to be sent to your congressional member.
The ARRL Legislative Action Program provides a methodology for ARRL members
to act through coordinated legitimate political action at the Federal level.
Legislative Action Assistants (LAA) serve as conduits to their respective
Federal elected officials. Members who participate in the state and local
legislative program may also choose to participate in the ARRL Federal
program.
Michigan still has a long way to go to fill all 15 Michigan Congressional
districts with ARRL Legislative Action Assistants. One of my
responsibilities is to recruit and train volunteers. I would like to have
at least three LAA's, working as a team, in each congressional district.
Please try to recruit members for this important function of the ARRL.
Potential members can email or call me at the following if they want to
volunteer or have questions about the program.
Thank you for your effort!
