MOON & MARS: When the sun sets tonight, go outside and look east. The Moon
and Mars are having a beautiful close encounter all weekend long. The best
night to look is Saturday when the distance between the pair shrinks to less
than 2 degrees. Campfire-red Mars so close to the silvery Moon is a sight
wonderful to behold. Visit http://spaceweather.com for sky maps and photos.

BLUE MOON ALERT: This is an alert for Central and South Americans. The
ongoing eruption of the Galeras volcano in southwestern Columbia is spewing
fine ash miles high into the atmosphere. Airborne volcanic ash can act as a
color-filter, turning moonlight blue. Although it is often said that Blue
Moons are mythical, they can appear during volcanic eruptions, so this is a
good time to look for a bright "Blue Moon" over your part of the world.
