>From President Bill AD8BC: Our meeting will be a little bit different this time. We are
going to have a "Potluck Pizza & Movie Night". Please bring a medium or a large pizza to
share, of any make and model. GRARA will provide the soda pop. Our movie will be the Ken
Burns documentary "Empire of the Air: The Men who Made Radio" which was first presented on
PBS in 1992. The movie is about three men: Lee deForest, the inventor of the Audion vacuum
tube; Edwin Howard Armstrong, the pioneer of FM technology; and David Sarnoff, who created
RCA, the most powerful communication company on Earth. Our thanks go to Ken Burns himself
for granting us permission to show this documentary to our group. So, along with your
pizza, please bring a guest!
We will open the building at 6:30 for some eyeball QSOing. Our business meeting will start
at 7:00 and we will try to keep it short. Afterwards, a brief social time where Dave DeVos
will present this months "Mystery Prize", and then we will start what we all came for. The
movie is just shy of two hours long so we will try to expedite any business that needs to be
done before the film
