Personal note, sorry about missing Aptil events. Computer took a dive. Got a
diffrent (not new) computer going and files transfered finally, among doing
other life's activities.
The following events are scheduled in the Grand Rapids area for May 2004 and
beyond. Anyone interested are welcome at these events.

The next meeting of the Grand Rapids Amateur Radio Association (GRARA) is
Friday, May 7, 7PM, at the American Red Cross building, 1050 Fuller Ave NE
between the Ford I-196 expressway and Leonard ST. Talk-in 147.26+(94.8Hz)

communications at the Fifth Third Bank River Run the following morning, May
8, (more needed, see below how to volunteer) should pick up assignments /
packets at this meeting.
NOTE: THE JUNE 4 MEETING will be at the Hudsonville Fairgrounds, evening
before the IRA's Hamfestival. Come out as early as you can to lend a hand
with setup. Be part of the annual "Roadkill-Chilli" potluck at 7PM, a feast
to die for. The GRARA meeting follows the potluck. A Hamfestival ticket
purchase is NOT required for Friday activities only, but it you are highly
encouraged to plan on attending this great Saturday event. If you have a

The W8DC ham shack at the Red Cross building is open for use Wednesdays
7:15PM to about 9 or after. Be sure to have a copy of your license if you

This Month's VE Amateur Radio license exams is Friday, May 14, 6:30PM, at
the Red Cross Building. All Walk-ins.

DAPR, the Downtown Amateur Packet Radio Group of Grand Rapids, meets for
breakfast the Saturday after the first Friday of each month, May 8, at 8AM.
New Beginnings Restaurant, 1455 Michigan St NE. Use the Fuller exit (turn
south) off of I-196 then go east on Michigan. "Talk-in" is on 146.760/R.

West Michigan Traffic Net meets Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday
nights at 9pm on 145.27. The purpose of this net is to handle NTS Traffic
coming into West Michigan. All are welcome to check in. We also are an inlet
for outgoing traffic as well.
The other net is the informal 6mtr AM net that meets every Sunday from
8-9am. This net originates in Grand Rapids.

GREAT LAKES QSO PARTY, Saturday May 29th 2004 sponsored by Michigan DX

To all Great Lakes Area Hams!
This May 29th will mark the 3rd running of the Great Lakes Qso Party. This
contest covers much more than just a single state. It covers over 700
counties in the following States and Provinces.
Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, New York, Wisconsin,
Pennsylvania and Ontario, Canada. The GLQP is the largest Regional Qso Party
in the nation! We offer a Trophy for SSB and CW. Our Sponsors are the
Michigan DX Association and ComDaC. This will be the 3rd running of this
event. It is fitting that the Great Lakes Qso is based in Michigan and
always has been. We will allow Online Log summaries and you may also use
paper logging. You may use any logging program you prefer as long as we
receive your final score and summary. Genlog supports the GLQP and in the
future we hope to be supported by N3FJP software.If you are your clubs
