Annual Morse Day Birthday Celebration

Saturday, April 24, 2004 at Cassopolis, Michigan

Those interested in land-line Morse Telegraphy are invited to attend Morse
Day at Cassopolis, Michigan.

This annual event, which celebrates the birthday of Samuel F.B. Morse,
serves as a reunion for former land-line Morse operators. Fomer operators
gather at various location throughout the United States and Canada to visit,
reminisce, and converse via Telegraph with similar Morse Telegraph Club
chapters throughout North America.

This event is an excellent opportunity to see real, functional Morse
Telegraph equipment being utilized by actual operators. This event is open
to anyone with an interest in the history of telegraphy.

Land-line Morse operators utilize the American Morse Code, which differs
from the International Code utilized by radio amateurs, military, and
maritime radio operators. Through a "dial-up" Morse network, operators are
able to utilize authentic Morse sounders, relays, and similar appartus to
communicate throughout the United States using traditional land-line
techniques.

Location:

This year's event will be held at the former Grand Trunk Cassopolis Railroad
Depot, located at 137 Depot Street in Cassopolis, Michigan. Depot Street is
located just West of the Grand Trunk/Canadian National grade crossing.

Feel free to drop in any time between 11AM and 2PM! All are welcome to
visit; former opeators, railfans, Amateur Radio operators, and others with
an interest in Morse, railroad history, and so forth.
