Re: QMN Packet Network

Gentlemen:

Here are some paths to various facilities around lower Michigan via the =
QMN VHF Packet Network. Please feel free to try these, but keep in mind =
that this network is intended primarily for public service =
communications. Therefore, please don't use it for extended casual =
"keyboard to keyboard" communications. However, it is desireable for =
operators to be familiar with the network structure, so feel free to =
experiment and use it.

To State EOC: C WC8EOC via QMN-13, K8CHR

To QMN Primary BBS in Downtown Detroit: C W8IHX-1 via QMN-13, K8CHR, =
WPXD

To QMN BBS at Washtenaw Chapter Red Cross: C W8IHX-3 via QMN-13, =
K8CHR, WPXD *

To QMN BBS at Milan, Michigan: C W8IHX-5 via QMN-13, K8CHR, WPXD

To Kalamazoo Red Cross (State Lead Chapter): C W8VY-1 via QMN-13

To Genesee County High Profile digipeater: C W8IHX-10 via QMN-13, =
K8CHR, QMN-10

To Clinton County ARES/QMN BBS: C W8IHX-13 via QMN-13, K8CHR

To QMN HF PACTOR gateway: C W8IHX-8 via QMN-13

    * This is also an HF PACTOR gateway on 3636.0 khz
** One may also connect to "K8QMN-15" as a KA-Node and thence to =
desired facility. Utilize this in place of QMN-13.

Some reminders about the network:

1. Because of the excellent "long path" abilities of the network, =
beacons on individual stations are discouraged. Please leave beacons to =
the high profile digipeaters and official facilities such as EOCs.

2. Stations are encouraged to post NWS traffic (rain gauge reports and =
so forth) to W8IHX-3 at Ann Arbor or W8IHX-8 at Allegan. Please contact =
wb8siw for information on how to participate in the statewide rain guage =
network. This is an excellent way to use the network and practice =
official message handling!

Thanks, and enjoy!
