It would be nice to see many more Michigan Amateur Radio operators subscribed to
this list. We as Hams need to unite our voices and stand up for our rights. We
can not depend on the ARRL to do it for us. Too often they are self-serving
these days, how many letters do you get each year asking for money, money and
more money? Yet they have staff getting a salary of a six digit figure. It is
all about money, not about the Hams who need a spokesperson, or organization, to
stand up for us to preserve our hobby.
Right now the utility companies and the broad band issue is going to end HF
operation as we know it. That is, unless we get off our rumps and start writing
our Congressmen, Representatives, Senators and so forth. If the utility
companies get this broad band service via the power lines operating, there is no
way we are ever going to get the problems they create resolved. They must be
stopped BEFORE they get it approved and/or operational.
If we sit on our hands, as we way too often do, then we have nobody to blame but
ourselves for the disaster that is just over the horizon.
This list is an ideal place for Michigan Hams to raise their voices, discuss
issues, promote activities, advertise items for sale, promote club functions and
much more. Get a friend or three to join it and let's get the Michigan Ham
community vocal and visible.
