The following events are scheduled in the Grand Rapids area for June 2003
and beyond. Anyone interested are welcome at these events.

The next meeting of the Grand Rapids Amateur Radio Association (GRARA)is
Friday, June 6, 7PM, at the American Red Cross building, 1050 Fuller Ave
NE between the Ford I-196 expressway and Leonard ST. Talk-in

The W8DC ham shack at the Red Cross building is open for use Wednesdays
7:15PM to about 9 or after. Be sure to have a copy of your license if you

Saturday, June 7. "HAMFESTIVAL" Hudsonville Fair Grounds. Come out Friday
the 6th for the annual "Roadkill-Chili" potluck, about 7PM and/or early
setup. Saturday setup begins 6AM, general admission 8AM. Indoor and
outside sales. Tickets $5 at the door, inside tables $8 ea, outside space
$6 each. Overnight camping (electric available) $10. Meetings, VE exams,

DAPR, the Downtown Amateur Packet Radio Group of Grand Rapids, meets for
breakfast the Saturday after the first Friday of each month, at 8AM.
(June 7) New Beginnings Restaurant, 1455 Michigan St NE. Anyone
interested in digital modes is invited to attend. Contact

The next Transmitter hunt is Sunday June 8, 1PM at the Knapp's Corner
Wendy's restaurant (next to Meijers). Of the 7 teams that compeated at
the previous hunt, the team headed by Sam Nabkey K8SN was first to find
the hidden transmitter. Now his team hides. We've heard the great stories
of Transmitter Hunts in the past, come join in the new great times. If
you don't have a direction finding set up, come out anyway and ride with
someone who does. Meet for lunch prior at the Wendy's restaurant.

The monthly meeting of the Michigan Amateur Radio Alliance (MARA) is
Wednesday May 11, 7:30PM, at the Steepletown building,SW corner of 5th St

MARA is sponsoring a BENEFIT DANCE the evening of Saturday, June 14 for
the family of SK WB8ZUH Bill "Willie" Vansplintern who passes away March
15. 7PM to Midnight. Door prize, cash bar. To be held at the Saint
Adalberts Benevolent Society Aid Hall located at 5th and Davis NW, Grand
Rapids. $5 admission. Tickets will be available at the GRARA, MARA, and
LARC meetings and tables at the IRA Hamfestival, and at the door. If you
can't attend the dance, you can still support a fallen ham by purchasing
tickets anyway.
