The following events are scheduled in the Grand Rapids area for September
2003 and beyond. Anyone interested are welcome at these events.
See note at end of listings to notify of corrections and ADDITIONS.

Operation C.A.R.E. Coffee Stop is this holiday weekend, August 30 thru
September 1. As always, shifts need volunteers at the Rockford SB US 131
Rest Area. A volunteer signup sheet it at the MARA website

The newsletter is back from the printer. Collation, labeling of the
COMBINED GRARA, MARA, and LARC newsletter, GRAHamfest promotion is
tentatively scheduled for Tuesday evening, September 2. This newsletter
goes to nearly 1400 recipients. It takes a crew to get it ready for the
mail, but not a long time. Check your e-mail for a confirmation, likely
at the Red Cross Building.

The next meeting of the Grand Rapids Amateur Radio Association (GRARA)is
Friday, September 5, 7PM, at the American Red Cross building, 1050 Fuller
Ave NE between the Ford I-196 expressway and Leonard ST. Talk-in

The monthly WLAV-FM and 147.26-(94.8Hz) Transmitter site cleanup is the
Tuesday evening following the meeting, 6PM or whenever you can get there.
If you can also bring a lawn mower, great. The drive passes a farm house
and out building off of Pettis Ave just north of 4 Mile Rd.

The W8DC ham shack at the Red Cross building is open for use Wednesdays
7:15PM to about 9 or after. Be sure to have a copy of your license if you

This Month's VE Amateur Radio license exams is Friday, September 12,
6:30PM, at the Red Cross Building. All Walk-ins.

ROAD SIDE CLEANUP along Hwy M-57 east of US 131 is tentatively scheduled
for Tuesday, September 16, 6PM. Meet at the Park and Ride at the US 131
exchange. Watch your e-mail for updates.

DAPR, the Downtown Amateur Packet Radio Group of Grand Rapids, meets for
breakfast the Saturday after the first Friday of each month, September 6,
at 8AM. New Beginnings Restaurant, 1455 Michigan St NE. Use the Fuller
exit (turn south) off of  I-196 then go east on Michigan.  "Talk-in" is
on 146.760/R.  Anyone 
interested in digital modes is invited to attend. Contact

The monthly meeting AND THE 2003 ANNUAL MEETING of the Lowell Amateur
Radio Club (LARC) is Saturday, September 6 AT 6PM. This will be a pot
luck event, everyone is welcome. Election of officers for 2003-2004 will
be at this meeting. Location is QTH of Jim Jaworowicz AA8JR, 1365 Alden

Repeater site grounds maintenance is the following Wednesday, September
10, 7PM, at the WODJ-FM Citidel Broadcasting transmitter site. About 6
miles north of Lowell on Lincoln Lake Ave just north of 3 Mile Rd. TI
