The following events are scheduled in the Grand Rapids area for the
remainder of January 2003 and beyond. Anyone interested are welcome at
these events:
Next hamfest in the Grand Rapids area is Saturday, January 4, 2003.
Lowell High School, 11700 Vergennes, Lowell (Vergennes Township),
sponsored by Amateur Radio Group of Youth in Lowell (ARGYL). 9AM to 12PM,
VE exams 10AM all walk-ins, lots of parking adjacent to school. ARRL
sanctioned. Talk-in 145.27-(94.8Hz) Admission $5, under 13 free. Tables

and meets every Tuesday evening 7-9 PM for 10 weeks
at the American Red Cross, West Central Michigan Chapter,

Cost for the class is $25 which includes the ARRL book "NOW YOU'RE
TALKING"
This Class, limited to 30, is designed for the Technician FCC Amateur
Radio License.

This Winter's 8th annual NEW HAMS DINNER is scheduled for the evening of
Saturday, February 15, 2003, 6:30PM at the Old Country Buffet at
Centerpointe Mall (formally Eastbrook Mall). This is a great time to get
out and meet our friends and welcome those who just got their ticket or
are new to the area. No reservations, just show up for the good times.
This is also the event where the annual West Michigan Ham of the Year
award is presented recognizing the effort of someone who has given much
to the ham community. Nominations for this award can be made thru January
