The following events are scheduled in the Grand Rapids area for December
2002 and beyond. Anyone interested are welcome at these events:

NEW ADDITION:
A MINI-SWAP, also known as a "Linoleum Adventure", will be Friday,
December 13, 6:30PM to about 9PM. Comdac of St Joeseph / Benton Harbor
http://www.comdac.com/ will be in attendance with their van load of
radios and other goodies. Those of you who crab about no ham store in
Grand Rapids, YES there is at the mini-swaps and the hamfests. Those of
you with some excess of your own to peddle, bring it along. There is no
admission or table charge.
Same time and building as the monthly VE exams, the American Red Cross
building, 1050 Fuller Ave NE between the Ford I-196 expressway and

NEWSLETTER DEADLINE
The Lowell Amateur Radio Club's annual newsletter will be sent out in
Mid-December, a little earlier than normal, in order to help publicize
the Youth Club's January 4 Hamfest.
Anyone wishing to submit an article, announcement, item wanted or for
sale, the deadline is Monday, December 2.

The newsletter should be ready for collating and mailing at the Saturday,
December 14 monthly meeting.

CANCELLATION NOTICE!
Due to scheduling conflict, the HOLIDAY POTLUCK DINNER FOR HAMS of
Saturday, December 7, is CANCELED. The Grand Rapids Amateur Radio
Association (GRARA) December meeting will be on the first Friday as
usual.

The next meeting of the Grand Rapids Amateur Radio Association (GRARA) is
Friday, December 6, 7PM, at the American Red Cross building, 1050 Fuller
Ave NE between the Ford I-196 expressway and Leonard ST. Talk-in

Note, the W8DC ham shack at the Red Cross building is open for use

SKYWARN APPRECIATION DAY is Saturday, December 7. The National Weather
Service in Grand Rapids will participate.
The Kent County Emergency Service Team (KCEST) will be helping out
providing overnight operator coverage for the event.

It is not a contest, but a Special Event Station operation.  We are
planning 3 or 4 operators with 3 HF Rigs, Two Meter, and the like.
Signups for the Kent County Group will be taken by leaving e-mail to
mailto:[email protected]  Our shifts will be two 4 hour shifts 11p-3a
and 3a to 7a.

CLASS STARTS: January 7, 2003
and meets every Tuesday evening 7-9 PM for 10 weeks
at the American Red Cross, West Central Michigan Chapter,
1050 Fuller NE, Grand Rapids between the Ford I-196 Expressway and

Cost for the class is $25 which includes the ARRL book "NOW YOU'RE
TALKING"
This Class, limited to 30, is designed for the Technician FCC Amateur
Radio License.

This Winter's 8th annual NEW HAMS DINNER is scheduled for the evening of
Saturday, February 15, 2003, 6:30PM at the Old Country Buffet at
Centerpointe Mall (formally Eastbrook Mall). This is a great time to get
out and meet our friends and welcome those who just got their ticket or
are new to the area. No reservations, just show up for the good times.
