The following events are scheduled in the Grand Rapids area.
Be sure to note the list of public service events in this e-mail.
DO YOUR PART AND VOLUNTEER FOR AT LEAST ONE EVENT THIS YEAR.

TRANSMITTER HUNT, details are in. Saturday 27th, gathering begins at 1PM,
the hunt begins promptly at 2PM. Every or no skill levels welcome. If you
don't have direction finding equipment, come out anyway and hitch a ride
with a DF team. Meet at Lowell High School, West parking. Talk-in on
145.27- ctcss94.8. We've all heard the "good 'ol days" stories of
transmitter hunts past, join in on the "good new days". Contact Doug

The monthly Kent County Emergency Services Team (KCEST) meeting is
Thursday the 25th, 7PM this month at the Red Cross Building on Fuller Ave
Between the Ford I-196 Expressway and Leonard St. Subject is damage
assesment training by Dave Devos KF8QL. Anyone with an interest in
emergency and public service communications is encouraged to attend.

Be sure to join the weekly net, Wednesdays at 8PM on a rotating repeater
schedule. A 10 meter net, 28.350MHz commences following the 2 meter net.

Of course, as part of the justification of the Amateur Radio service,
we're familiar with part 97.1(a) "Recognition and enhancement of the
value of the amateur service to the public as a voluntary noncommercial
communication service......".

OPERATION C.A.R.E. Memorial holiday weekend, Friday May 24 thru Monday
May 27, Rockford Rest Area SB US131 past M-57 14 Mile Rd exit #101,
before 10 Mile Rd exit #97. OK, this is not communications help per se,
but it is still public service that benefits holiday travelers and the
sponsors MARA and GRARA, which in turn benefits all of us. A shift signup
