Hello Kurt

It's an easy test. If you lready have the Derlin try the GPS and look at the 
received signal strength indicator.
I suspect there is a fair margin in the performance. I just bought an Etrex 
Venture and was surprised that the antenna is located inside the unit and it 
has to look through a plastic case which has 'metalflake chips' mixed in with 
the plastic.

BTW. Do you happen to know if the NEMA output from the Etrex series can be 
used for locking a frequency counter? Apparently it has 1.00000 etc per 
second updates
