I have, and am working on the design for such a system which is on my
"laundry list" of future projects. Have known about this technique for some
time & have been doing much research on the subject.
Am currently building a quasioptical corner cube mixer system (using
conventional LO technique) for submm wave range and also on a laser
heterodyne system (perhaps first of its kind in amateur radio?) so the two
naturally lead to one another.
