Mr. Sharpe has requested that e-mail messages -- regarding the late John R.
Pierce -- be sent to him "off list," but it's not clear what his preferred
e-mail address might be.

If you can please clarify that, I would be most grateful.

Very briefly:

In 1951, I was interviewed and hired by Dr. Pierce at BTL/Murray Hill to be
in his traveling-wave tube group -- which later became headed by Rudi
Kompfner. (Thanks to both of them, my career went well & was marked by
several patents issued, publications, and an invitation to include these in
a doctoral dissertation submitted at Cambridge University, in England.)

I was a guest in Dr. Pierce's home in New Jersey, and once accompanied him
to an "Author's Club" dinner in Manhattan. John's affilation with this club
was based on his "Science Fiction" writing.

After his relocation to Stanford University, we connected occasionally when
he lectured at such venues as Varian Associates and the Stanford Music Dept.
