[MFJ-Ameritron] MFJ-492

I recently bought a used MFJ-492 keyer, with a never-installed memory 
expansion chip. The downloaded manual does not make clear if this chip 
goes in the vacant socket, or if it should replace the existing 
same-size chip. Also, the two existing large chips are keyed opposite 
from each other, so which way should the memory expansion go?
