Hello All,
I am W8DBF, Duane Fischer of Flint, MI and I am totally blind. I have an
Ameritron AL-82 HF amplifier and I may have a problem with it.
I need to know the "typical" grid current and plate current readings when
the amp is being driven by 32 watts from the excitor.
I am tuned on 14.225 MHZ into a Mosley TA-33 with a SWR of 1:3 Using the
RTTY mode to check the grid, plate and RF power out, I show -
Grid: 200 MA
Plate: 500
High Voltage: 3600
RF Output: 980 watts (keydown in RTTY mode)
This AL-82 was purchased new in March of 2007. It came with the latest
Ameritron circuit protection modifications.
Several Hams have given me "typical" readings for the grid current and plate
current that do not match the values I have in my notes. However, these
notes are for the AL-82 that I purchased new in 2002! Since this amp is five
years newer, perhaps the "typical" grid and plate current values have
changed due to design modifications. I do not know.
If one of you would be so kind as to give me the "typical" grid and plate
current vales for a recent AL-82, so I could compare them against mine, I
would certainly appreciate it.
Thank you very much.
